Writes of Passage Women's Online Writing Group

I am creating an online writing group beginning March 1. Wed. evenings, 7-8:30PM/MT.

9 weeks $100.

This is a writing group. It is not a critique group. All genres of writing are welcome.

I will start the evenings with a writing quote so that it sets the tone. I would ask each person to bring something of their own to read to the group, and depending on the group size, we will all read and give feedback or some will share and some will wait.

We will write together for 10 minutes from a writing prompt and then have the option of sharing. One can always pass.

If there is time, we will write again with the option of sharing our writing with each other.

I am creating a private Facebook page where further sharing of our writings, our thoughts, our info may be shared. Each of the group’s participants will be welcome to share on this page.

I find that critique-ing can shut down a person’s creativity, so the only rules for the group are these:

No critiques, but by all means say what you liked about the piece.

No disclaimer’s. Don’t tell us why this piece you are about to read is awful. Just read. We all are at different stages of our writing practice. We all have good days and bad days. Some pieces are first drafts and slide off the pen or the keyboard fully developed in a few minutes and others need more thought. This is about writing practice, getting our minds used to putting thoughts on paper or on the computer

in a short frame of time.

You may be working on a book of your own. Then the group writing will prime the pump. You might be someone who has thought about writing their whole life and never got to it. Now you can.

Join me online.

You can pay thru paypal using this email address to find me. The meetings will be conducted through gotomeeting.com and I will send you the meeting code every week to enter the group. I can do a short meeting the week prior to the start of the writing group for anyone unsure about doing the online part of the process. Just let me know and make sure I have your email address.

“Write whatever’s running through you. You might start with ‘this moment’ and end up writing about the gardenia you wore at your wedding seven years ago. That’s fine. Don’t try to control it. Stay present with whatever comes up, and keep your hand moving.” Natalie Goldberg, Writing Down the Bones.
