Astro Update 5 8 18

This Friday, May 11, Mars enters the shadow of its next Retrograde (Rx) cycle. We will come back to the events that occur this Friday the second half of August. (See below for the complete Mars cycle.

Mars represents our physical energy and drive. It represents how we conduct ourselves, what type of energy we employ for what we want to manifest in our lives. What is the dream, is a Mars question.

This cycle takes Mars through the last degrees of Capricorn into Aquarius, Rx back into Capricorn, going Direct back into Aquarius and moving on. So we are ready to work for what we see is important, and yet have, perhaps, an idealistic view of what can happen…maybe some practicalities need to be worked out…maybe the goal is too narrow, gets too large, and then some real-life parameters need to be added before the vision has a place to rest.

So because Mars rules our energy and physical drive, we might find ourselves not wanting to be so physical…or for some, it may galvanize a physicality that they normally don’t experience. People who have Mars Rx at birth will feel right at home with the energy and perhaps, bring a dream forward. Maybe something they have been quietly working on.

So we enter the shadow this Friday…we’re given an idea of something. Mars turns Rx on June 26 and those Mars energies begin to work more inwardly. On Aug.27, Mars turns Direct and we begin to manifest what may have been processing/delayed up until then. On Oct.8, we catch up, enter new territory and the cycle ends. We carry on.

For those who feel inclined:

Create a simple altar for honoring Mars. Red cloth, a candle/for the flame. Some hematite or iron rich stone, or red jasper/ruby/carnelian can be added, and something sharp…a ceremonial knife, a letter opener, a travel/herb cutting knife/implement. (Mars rules guns, knives, surgery, childbirth, beginnings.) Put some flowers there from time to time and honor that Mars energy in your life.
