Spring 2025
Dear Friends,
As you’ll see in the newsletter, I am offering an Emergency Preparedness Course. I just took one myself, locally, and thought I would share what I learned and the tools that I purchased to show what’s available. Floods and high winds, extreme weather patterns, fire and earthquakes feel more prevalent now. I think it’s wise to have some things on hand, just in case.
As we are all gearing up for another year and strong astrological aspects, we may find ourselves feeling pushed and pulled, feeling fatigued at times. In order to keep some momentum going to pass through the changes that are being asked of us, we must make time to rest. To nap, to sit and look at the sky, a fire.
I feel we are moving through an energetic passage place, some call it a photon belt. It is changing us and asking us to up-level our conscious awareness in a major way.
Between the Saturn-Pluto aspect bringing in the Pandemic in 2020, or the fact that this year and 2026, 2 outer planets will move from water and earth signs to fire and air signs. Pluto has already done this and Saturn soon to follow. It will speed things up, bring more intuition and understandings, and expanded consciousness with more Light. Breathe in the Light and carry on!
Be well, Jyoti

Spring 2025 Astrology Column
April
We begin April with energy for movement. Mercury turns Direct on the 7th and we have more of an idea of where we want to go. The Full Moon on the 12th at 6:22PM/MDT says be open to the emotionally healing experiences available. Venus turns Direct this day at 7:20PM/MDT and our sense of where we wan to go is even more solid, and we can bring what we value to those choices. On the 20th, we may feel catalyzed and on the 23rd, power issues may arise. Mercury catches up on the 26th as Mar opposes Pluto that day also. Give yourself time to stay cool and not react. The New Moon on the 27th at 1:31PM/MDT suggests making peace with one’s past. Do what you can to own what is yours. Pluto will be stationing from April 29-May 11, days of intensity and transformation.
May
May begins with Pluto turning Retrograde on the 4th and we are drawn to work inwardly somewhat over the next 5 months. The Full Moon on the 12th at 10:56AM/MDT brings our individuality vs agreements with others into focus. Personal freedom vs emotional dependency. On May 16, Venus catches up. New values, new territory may be present. Strength and empowerment on the 24th. Saturn enters Aries that day as well and our impulses come back online. The New Moon on the 26th at 9:02PM/MDT says look beneath the surface. You may be surprised at what you see.
June
Jupiter enters Cancer on the 9th and we want more creature comforts. We want to feel safe and create safe space for others. Some may have access to old knowledge, ancient wisdoms. The Full Moon on the 11th at 1:44PM/MDT brings changes. What presently needs to shift. What to keep and what to let go of. The 17th brings erratic energy with Mars and Uranus. Be mindful The Summer Solstice of June 20th at 8:42PM/MDT says trust your own emotional intelligence. Take stock. The New Moon on the 25th at 4:32AM/MDT brings unexpected insight. Take your own authority. From June 27-July 12, Neptune is stationing. Be willing to see the truth of things. Happy Summer!

Movie Review: Netflix. The Six Triple Eight. The true story of a Black Battalion of women soldiers during WW!!. They were not entrusted with an assignment overseas, as much as their fearless leader petitioned for one for them. Finally, one came through that would put them in the history books. Kerry Washington, lead actress. Great film.
I will be offering an Emergency Preparedness Course several times this year. What to have on hand in case of an emergency if you are left to your own devices at home, in a car, or on foot. Some very basic tools and devices that would help you, even if you had to go to a shelter. Let me know if you are interested. See end page for details.
The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon is a fascinating story from history about Martha Ballard, midwife, healer, and diarist and her experience of a man found frozen in the Kennebec River, Maine in 1789. A possible murder. Ariel Lawhon uncovers the truth while reporting on life as it happened. Arlene S. Bice author of Rumors, a book of short stories.

Invitation
Oh do you have time
to linger
for just a little while
out of your busy
and very important day
for the goldfinches
that have gathered
in a field of thistles
for a musical battle,
to see who can sing
the highest note,
or the lowest,
or the most expressive of mirth,
or the most tender?
Their strong, blunt beaks
drink the air
as they strive
melodiously
not for your sake
and not for mine
and not for the sake of winning
but for sheer delight and gratitude—
believe us, they say,
it is a serious thing
just to be alive
on this fresh morning
in the broken world.
I beg of you,
do not walk by
without pausing
to attend to this
rather ridiculous performance.
It could mean something.
It could mean everything.
It could be what Rilke meant, when he wrote:
You must change your life.
By Mary Oliver
Thank you, Karen.
One thing I love to do…
is to take time to be with just me. Though I love my friends dearly, it seems I have been quite sparse with attention to myself. And this moment… it seems so obvious to me… about how I can neglect my needs and wants… almost like it does not occur to me that I have them.
I know the culture and my being in a female body this lifetime has had a strong influence about caretaking others… being of service, with an open heart.
This Venus retrograde has come with perfect timing for me to go deeply inside and question my values about myself.
It’s like at the age of 79, I question who I truly am. I know I am more than Susan, but Susan is still a mystery to me. I’m rather thrilled at my age to still have time to meet her, make friends with her, enjoy her company and love her friendship.
I have tears in my eyes as I’m writing this because I feel the truth of my words right now and how I have treated myself, Susan, – with little attention to the care that nurtures ME.
It is not about nurturing others – especially over myself. That is my shadow at work! It is about being vigilant of Susan, my needs & wants and what nurtures Me.
How can I be so blind at times? It’s amazing, heartbreaking and heart opening for me to be writing these words and truly taking them in. Amen, Susan!
My Course in Miracles classes have opened the door for me. I am so grateful!

The Being Outside My Bedroom Window
From the time I was very small, I was sent to bed early and, because I wasn’t very tired, I would rock myself to sleep. Teddy bear in hand, song ready to sing, I would begin my nightly ritual. As I hummed and sang softly to myself, rocking back and forth to expend my energy so I could relax, I would begin to feel his presence outside my bedroom window. I never saw him, if indeed it was a ‘he’. I just knew he was there, every evening, and my songs were for him. I knew he listened. I felt his patient waiting. Somehow I knew he cared about me and watched over me in the night.
In the dark, in my own twin bed, I felt safe. Even though my parents were in the next room watching TV, and my sister slept on the other side of our large, shared room, it was he who had my focus.
My bedroom window faced the concrete backyard of the apartment house I lived in, and was on the ground floor. I could sense this being right outside, standing on the ground, leaning against the building, listening through the closed window in winter, or screen in summer.
The size and shape of things didn’t matter. The cold or warmth or season didn’t matter. My off-key singing didn’t matter. What mattered to me was that he was there every night.
